Antique Diamond Maltese Cross Brooch; recently released from the private collection of a prominent Worcestershire family, this large brooch/pendant is a fabulous example of a Maltese Cross. It dates from the Victorian era and is formed of a central Old European cut diamond weighing 0.30ct, assessed as H/I colour SI clarity and 8 diamond set points totalling 3.30ct, estimated as H-K colour SI clarity. To the reverse there is a curved pin and lock closure with a hook to attach a chain when worn as a pendant. The cross is hand made in 18ct gold with the diamonds set in silver. Measurements: 47mm x 48mm x 5mm. Weight: 25.20gm. It tests as 18ct gold and silver and has been professionally re-polished. This beautiful brooch is in very good condition and would be a valued addition to a collection. C.1880 – 1900. Ref: MH41
