Antique Scottish Silver Kilt Brooch

Antique Scottish silver kilt brooch; this is a large brooch which would have be worn by a piper to hold his sash in place.  It is set with a large central facetted pink quartz.  The brooch is very ornate and decorated with swirling thistles and silver scrolls.  To the reverse it is fitted with a large pin and hook closure. Weight: 72.73gms.  It is hallmarked Edinburgh 1849 with maker’s mark J.C. (possibly James Crichton).   Measurements: 10cm x 10cm (3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″).  It is in good antique condition.  Ref: V1370
