Antique Victorian Garnet Gold Brooch This exquisite mid-Victorian garnet and gold brooch showcases remarkable craftsmanship and intricate detail.
Eight pinkish-purple garnets encircle a central garnet, which is itself set within a coronet featuring a delicate floral border over an ornate cross.
Further floral designs and millegrain edging embellish the brooch’s outer edges. The reverse reveals a locket compartment, designed to hold a keepsake such as a lock of hair or a miniature portrait. It has a metal pin closure and a hook for a safety chain.
Weight: 12.6 grams and tested as 15ct gold. Measurements: 4.5cm by 3.5cm (1 3/4″ x 1 3/8″) this magnificent brooch, dating from circa 1850-1860, is in very good condition and represents a superb addition to any antique jewellery collection.
