Retro Gold Diamond Gaspipe Necklace A classic necklace from the Retro period of the 1940s, the Gaspipe or Tubogas design was formed of interlocking gold bands forming a hollow and tubular necklace.
These were highly popular and the height of fashion at that time. This necklace is a fine example from the period and is formed of a long flexible tube, interlocking at the front with a hidden clasp at the back and two tassels.
It is set with Transitional cut diamonds weighing 0.45ct and weighs 61.23gm. Measurements: 39.5cm (15 1/2″) to the clasp and a further 6cm (2 1/2″) to the end of the tassels x width 8.5mm x 8mm depth.
The necklace is in very good condition and is a rich rose colour shade of 9ct gold (Tested). We also have the matching earrings.
It is supplied with its original presentation case (in very poor condition!) by jewellers Hunt & Roskell who were founded by Paul Storr in 1819 and were jewellers to Queen Victoria.
