Victorian Garnet and Quartz Gold Brooch

Antique Victorian foiled back garnet and white quartz brooch set in 9ct gold;  this is one of the many Victorian brooches in The Alice Collection, typical of the mid nineteenth century style, with a compartment to the reverse which would have been used to house woven hair from a departed loved one.  In this case the compartment has not been used.  The brooch is ornately decorated and is set with foiled back garnets and white quartz stones.  It is fitted with a pin and hook for closure to the reverse and has a ring to attach a safety chain.  Tested as 9ct gold.  Weight: 9.30gm.  Measurements: 3.8cm x 3.0cm (1.5″ x 1.25″) The brooch is in very good vintage condition and dates from 1860 – 1880.  Ref: H066-47
