Victorian Gold Buckle Brooch

Antique Victorian gold buckle brooch; from The Alice Collection, this brooch is in the classic high mid Victorian style, buckles being extremely fashionable at the time.  It has a central buckle, highly decorated with foliage over 3 crescent moons.  It is fitted with a pin and hook closure to the reverse and a ring so it can also be worn as a pendant.  Although very popular in the mid Victorian era, there are very few of these gold buckle brooches around, this one having been in a private collection for many years.  Weight: 5.0gm, measurements: 4.0cm x 3.5cm ( 1 1/2″ x 1 1/4″).   Tested as 9ct gold.  This stylish brooch is in very good condition and has been professionally re-polished.   C.1850 – 1860.  Ref: H066-55
