Victorian Gold Ruby Pearl Mourning Brooch

Victorian 15ct gold, ruby and pearl mourning brooch;  this beautiful brooch is of fine quality craftsmanship and is set with a central ruby surrounded by pearls in a star motif.  It is decorated in the Etruscan revival style which was so popular with the Victorians in the mid nineteenth century.  To the reverse it is fitted with a pin and hook closure and a compartment which has finely woven blonde hair inside.  Weight: 8.80gm; measurements: 4.25cm x 3.50cm (1 3/4″ x 1 1/4″).  This brooch is in very good condition and has clearly been lovingly looked after.  It is also fitted with a ring to attach a safety chain.  Tested as 15ct gold.  C.1860 – 1880  Ref: H066-31
